Nursing Job Fair Preparation

Often facilities have their own job fairs, or facilities have a booth at major career fairs. It is important that when you attend, that you are prepared.

1. Make a Portfolio

-Resume

Having a resume is not enough. If possible perform research about the job fair. If you are unable to, have at least 10 copies of each document in your portfolio, including your resume.

-Cover letter

-Certificates/Awards

-Reference Letters/List of References

-Proof of conference attendance/community activities

2. Be prepared to be interviewed. At some job fairs, you may be interviewed right away, and sometimes more than once.

3. Dress to impress.

Please do not show up in scrubs. Business casual is necessary, a suit is even better. First impressions are everything.

4. Follow up.

Be sure to get a business card from whoever you make contact with. Send them a thank you email after the job fair. Call them in a week to follow up. They may want to see you again.
